Clifford Lee Salinger, M.D., recipient of the Palm Beach County Medical Society “Heroes In Medicine” award, received his fellowship training in Cornea and External Diseases at the Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco, California.

This additional one-year subspecialty fellowship is above and beyond the training for comprehensive ophthalmologists. Following his fellowship, he was in private practice for more than three years in Phoenix, Arizona, where he also served as a consultant at the Indian Health Services Hospital, and then one year as a faculty member of the Cornea fellowship training program at the University of Rochester in New York. Dr. Salinger has been in practice as a Corneal / External Disease & Refractive Surgery specialist in the West Palm Beach and Stuart, Florida area since 1996. Dr. Salinger's other experience in the field of Ophthalmology includes training as an International Ophthalmology fellow with ORBIS international, a non-profit organization, which serves developing countries worldwide.  He continues to teach and to serve as volunteer visiting faculty for both ORBIS and SightLife, training corneal transplant surgeons globally. Prior to his Fellowship, Dr. Salinger completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the New Jersey Eye Institute in Newark, New Jersey. He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and his Bachelor of Arts degree at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He is Board Certified and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. His affiliations and memberships are numerous and include, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the Castroviejo Corneal Society, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Palm Beach County Medical Society, and the Florida Society of Ophthalmology, for which he continues to serve on the Executive Board and as Education Chairman for his 16th consecutive year.
